Our Process

Efficient, Professional and

Client-Focused Systems

Step 1: Contact Us

Are you a new supplier or buyer? Feel free to contact our team directly here.

If you know exactly what materials you are selling or purchasing, complete a more detailed online enquiry form here.

Step 2: Inventory Analysis

We’ll need a clear and detailed description of the stock you are wishing to buy or sell.

Please be as specific as possible with clearly categorised and itemised lists.
Include the material type (plastic, paper, metal etc), grade (if known), quantity (kgs), colour and pick up location. (All information can be supplied via the online form).

Step 3: On-site Stock Analysis

Our team will make a visit to inspect your stock to ensure that it meets our standards of quality before making a final offer to purchase.

Disclaimer: Please note that some offers we receive aren’t viable (from an economical perspective). if quantities and volumes are low or if materials have a high level of contamination, we will not be able to accept them.

Step 4: Offer to Purchase

Once we are happy with a qualitative and quantitative analysis of your materials, we will make a final offer per kilogram / ton.

The weight of the material is determined by a calibrated on site scale. The scale is overseen by our qualified staff at either our facility or a third-party facility to ensure accuracy and best practise with full reporting.

Step 5: Payment and Collection

All our payments are made via SWIFT banking.

We send our expert packing and logistics team to the facility to expedite the collection / delivery of materials.

While collections are always managed by our team, we send a staff member to oversee deliveries on a case by case basis.

Working with GAP Guidelines

Rule 1: Large-volume orders

We specialise in brokering high volumes of recyclable materials – both pre- and post-consumer and in various forms and / or stages of production.

To maximise revenue for both our suppliers and buyers, we trade exclusively in large volume orders so as to to reduce logistics and production costs.

Rule 2: Wrap it up nicely, please

Presentation plays a large role as to where your recyclable waste and processed plastic recycled material will be sent. In addition, neat, itemised presentation & packaging streamlines logistics, inspections & transport for all parties.

Rule 3: Ask for packaging support

At GMR we find that each client and situation requires different, customisable logistics, based on the product and its final destination. We can advise you on best and most cost effective practices.

Over land, over sea

Materials can be moved locally by truck throughout South Africa or exported overseas by shipping it in containers. Depending on where the material will be going, certain logistical legal guidelines will need to be adhered to. We advise accordingly.

Resources

When it comes to trading recyclable materials, efficient logistics and freight management are crucial for a successful and profitable business. One of the ways GAP Merchant Recycling strives to add value for our clients is through tactical logistical planning.

INCO:

Incoterms (International Commercial Terms) are universally recognised rules that guide buyers and sellers to fulfill a contract for the shipment of goods. A careful study of INCOTERMS 2020 will repay the effort by enabling more favourable trade terms for effective trade finance.

Shipping Container SPECS:

Recyclable materials are generally volumetric and are mostly shipped in 40-foot High Cube Containers (HCL).

Please download the shipping container specifications for recyclable materials below.

ISRI:

We apply the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) specifications for trading guidelines.
ISRI specifications are designed to facilitate the trading and use of the entire range of recycled materials including recycled ferrous and nonferrous metals, paper, plastics, electronics, glass, tire and rubber, and residential recyclables.
